About Jake
I always considered myself an athlete. I grew up playing sports and loved to compete. After being cut from my college lacrosse team I felt lost. I would go the gym to lift and do some cardio, but it didn’t bring the same level of excitement. I found Crossfit Webster in 2013 and fell in love. The community and competitive aspect of the sport made every workout worthwhile and exciting. After 6 months of crossfit I decided to get my Level 1. I wanted to share my love for the sport with as many people as possible. I’ve been coaching for the past 6 years and absolutely love it.The feeling I get watching other members succeed and achieve their goals surpasses the feeling I get from my own success.
Turning Point
My enemy is likely similar to anyone else’s, the voice in the back of my mind telling me “I can’t do this.” “This is too hard.” “Just stop.” “I don’t feel like it.” One thing I take pride in as an athlete is my “mental toughness.” The ability to push through those thoughts and prove to yourself that they’re wrong is extremely powerful. One of my goals as a coach is to show members that these thoughts can be conquered and that their body is far more capable than they think. Once you’re able to see that you have control over your thinking the limits are endless.
